Aqua, an Essential Utilities company, is seeking an Operator I for the Crum/Ridley Creek Treatment Plants. This position requires shift work and the ability to move to a permanent shift as openings occur. The role involves operating water treatment plants, ensuring the delivery of reliable water and wastewater services. Requirements

  • Must obtain and maintain a Waterworks Operators Class A license with all associated modules within 3 years.
  • Entry-level employees require an associate degree, or 2 years of trade school or similar education. In lieu of that, 2 years of experience in the waterworks field or a similar field requiring mechanical, treatment, and/or mathematical skills.
  • Must be able to perform labor-intensive work, including lifting requirements of 75 pounds.
  • Must meet and follow all Aqua safety requirements dealing with hazardous chemical handling and PPE requirements.
  • Must possess good mechanical skills for repair/replacement of plant equipment.
  • Must be able to make mathematical calculations for chemical dosing.
  • Must be available for overtime as needed.
  • Must have a valid US driver's license.
  • Must obtain a Commercial Driver's License, Class C, with a Hazardous Material Endorsement within the required time period.
  • Must successfully obtain a Medical Examiner's Certificate prior to starting the position.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain water treatment plants.
  • Perform labor-intensive work, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements for hazardous chemical handling and PPE.
  • Perform repairs and replacements of plant equipment such as pumps, instruments, and chemical feed equipment.
  • Make mathematical calculations to determine chemical doses for flow rates and proper treatment.
  • Be available for overtime as needed to maintain continuous plant operations.
  • Perform as a member of the Hazmat Response Team if maintained.
  • Undergo random drug and alcohol testing, reasonable suspicion testing, post-accident testing, and return-to-duty testing.
  • Obtain and maintain bi-annual medical certification (physical examination).
