About The Position

This position is in Cargill's Ag & Trading enterprise, which connects producers and users of grains and oilseeds globally through origination, trading, processing, and distribution. The Chemical Plant Operator I will operate, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot basic issues for machines and equipment used in chemical production for consumer products, adhering to established policies and procedures under frequent guidance. Responsibilities include conducting analytical tests, ensuring quality control during chemical processes, and maintaining a dynamic, continuous process flow that meets safety and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and loud noise, while using personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work in elevated areas.
  • Ability to perform physical job duties including bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work overtime, including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice.
  • High school diploma/GED or a minimum of two years of equivalent work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic experience troubleshooting various mechanical components and systems.
  • Prior experience working in production-related work.
  • Forklift experience.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate equipment, technology tools, and chemical, mechanical, or thermal processes in assigned production areas with readily definable variables.
  • Monitor equipment and control panels, execute manual valves, sample and run analytical tests, perform basic adjustments to chemical processes, and utilize computer systems for data input and recording, following written or verbal instructions.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in facility operations within the area(s) of responsibility, with limited authority to make changes as defined by management.
  • Ensure the collection and completion of safety permits, safety reviews, and adherence to safety practices.
  • Operate mobile powered equipment such as Forklift, Skid Loader, Sit Down Floor Sweeper, and Front End Loader.
  • Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment to troubleshoot, perform light maintenance, and complete repair work.
  • Use power tools, basic hand tools, and electrical tools for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting routine machine performance issues, and assisting with more complex maintenance tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
