About The Position

The Operator I operates filling equipment, cappers, labelers, sealers, and related machinery to meet customer-order-driven production schedules. The role includes operating, repairing, and overhauling mechanical equipment and supervising machine operations. Work must prioritize safety and comply with established GMP, safety, regulatory, and Stratas Foods procedures and policies. The position is located in Hillside.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Ability to work independently with self-guidance and motivation.
Strong multitasking skills.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, kneel, stand for extended periods, work in confined spaces, and work at heights.
Ability to hear, see, speak, smell, and touch well enough to perform essential tasks.

Responsibilities

Follow GMP and safety guidelines, wear required PPE, and adhere to all safety rules.
Determine machine adjustments based on product specifications and material requirements.
Set machine stops or guides to specified lengths using a scale, rule, or template.
Observe machine operation and detect product defects or machine malfunctions.
Identify potential mechanical issues that could cause breakdowns or downtime, report them to the supervisor, and help reduce downtime.
Record downtime reasons in the CDC system.
Stop and reset equipment when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report impairments to the Production Supervisor.
Perform periodic product sample weights to verify fill weight and ensure product quality and conformity with customer standards.
Replace and replenish containers of product and packaging supplies, including film, laminate, and mount rolls on spindles.
Complete documentation required for product quality assurance.
Perform changeovers and minor machine maintenance and adjustments; communicate more substantial maintenance needs to maintenance personnel.
Assist mechanics with preventive maintenance, machine service, or repairs while following Lockout/Tagout procedures.
