About The Position

This entry-level position grinds and smooths surfaces of manufactured parts before finishing operations. The position operates in a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to loud noise and machinery with moving parts. A physical capacity profile and drug screen are required.

Responsibilities

• Examine and feel workpiece surfaces to identify defects.
• Select the grade of abrasive belt, wheel, or disk according to specifications, knowledge of abrasives, and the condition of the metal, and attach it to the grinder.
• Start the grinder and move it over part surfaces to remove scratches, rust, and burrs.
• Polish ground areas with finer abrasives to produce a smooth, unmarred surface.
• Replace worn abrasive disks, wheels, and belts.
• Operate a lift truck with certification.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
