Your Role: Fermentation Operator As a Fermentation Operator, you will be part of the manufacturing team responsible for the batch operation of fermentation vessels and related equipment at Elanco’s Terre Haute site. In this role, you’ll ensure safe and compliant operation of fermentation systems, support production efficiency, and uphold high standards of quality, safety, and environmental stewardship.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED Required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing or fermentation operations
  • Technical proficiency in process operations
  • Strong attention to safety, detail, and teamwork

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with aseptic aerobic fermentation or DeltaV (or similar batch control systems)
  • Background in pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environments
  • Relevant technical or trade degree
  • Forklift certification and ability to handle 50 lb. materials
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexibility to work 12-hour rotating shifts

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain fermentation equipment using both manual and automated (DeltaV) control systems
  • Perform raw material weigh-up, charge batches, and execute start-up, sterilization, harvesting, and cleaning (CIP) processes
  • Collect and record process data and perform in-process sampling and lab testing (OD, pH, conductivity)
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized work environment while ensuring adherence to safety and environmental procedures
  • Support utilities and plant operations during off shifts to ensure reliable production performance
