About The Position
Austin Industrial is seeking a Dirt Operator to join their team in Chalmette, LA. The role involves operating various types of power construction equipment to perform tasks such as excavating, moving earth, grading, erecting structures, and transporting materials within industrial work areas. The operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of machinery, performing regular maintenance, and ensuring equipment is in good working order. This position requires the ability to work legally for any employer in the United States, as sponsorship for employment visas is not provided.
Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States.
- 3-5 years of operating equipment experience.
Responsibilities
- Pushes and pulls levers and depresses pedals to operate machinery such as motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, shovels, derricks, tractors, and front-end loaders.
- Raises, lowers, and rotates boom, blade, or bucket according to visual cues or signals from a helper.
- Inspects equipment for defects and reports any malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Starts engines and operates controls to maneuver machinery.
- Signals truck drivers for proper positioning during loading of materials.
- Identifies and avoids potential hazards and obstructions.
- Performs routine cleaning, maintenance, and lubrication of equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
