About The Position

This position requires an individual to operate electric, diesel, gasoline, or steam powered power construction equipment, such as a motor grader, bulldozer, scraper, shovel, derrick, tractor, front-end loader or other power equipment to excavate, move or grade earth, erect structures, move products, equipment, or materials to and from industrial work areas. The role involves specific duties such as manipulating controls to operate machinery, inspecting equipment for defects, signaling truck drivers for loading, and taking actions to avoid hazards. The operator is also responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and lubricating equipment. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, as Austin Industrial is unable to sponsor employment visas.

Requirements

  • Must be able to operate electric, diesel, gasoline, or steam powered power construction equipment.
  • 3-5 years of operating equipment experience.
  • Must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States.
  • Austin is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Operate electric, diesel, gasoline, or steam powered power construction equipment, such as a motor grader, bulldozer, scraper, shovel, derrick, tractor, front-end loader or other power equipment to excavate, move or grade earth, erect structures, move products, equipment, or materials to and from industrial work areas.
  • Push and pull levers and depress pedals to raise, lower, and rotate boom and to raise and lower load line or to raise and lower blade or bucket.
  • Raise, lower blade or bucket, and rotate boom or load by sight or according to signals from helper.
  • Inspect equipment for defective parts and notify supervisor of defects or malfunctions.
  • Start engines, move throttles, switches, and levers, and depress pedals to operate machines.
  • Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate loading of dirt, rocks, and other materials.
  • Take actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.
  • Clean, maintain, and lubricate equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
