About The Position

The Operator 2 role is a driving position responsible for safely operating and caring for field equipment, performing shop maintenance, and supporting the operational business. This role works closely with Greenhands and Bulk Drivers and is considered safety-sensitive. Operator 2 specifically involves driving well servicing equipment with a trailer (pup unit) to and from well sites and mentoring Operator 1s in obtaining their Class 1 (Canada) / CDL A (U.S.) license. The role requires maintaining and operating a pumper, performing on-site rig in and rig out procedures, monitoring pump performance, inspecting equipment, and maintaining documentation. It also includes performing shop maintenance, rebuilding components, assisting with job preparations and incident reporting, and adhering to safety policies. The position requires developing and maintaining strong client relationships and establishing procedures for high service levels. General duties include participating in training and other required tasks.

Requirements

  • Valid applicable driver’s license per above with a clean driver’s record.
  • Physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, gripping, sitting/driving, walking, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods.
  • Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time and in all types of weather conditions.
  • Able to be on call 24 hours on 15 days on 6 days off rotational schedule, always remaining fit for duty (subject to change due to market conditions).
  • Able to work in congested or confined areas, and with exposure to loud noises and vibration.
  • Legally eligible to work in the country the role is based out of.
  • Class 1 (Canada) / CDL A (U.S.) driving experience on all types of roads.

Responsibilities

  • Drive well servicing equipment with a trailer (pup unit) to and from well sites, as required.
  • Mentor Operator 1’s in obtaining their class 1 (Canada) / CDL (U.S.) license.
  • Maintain, prepare, and operate a pumper for each job.
  • Operate the pumper to perform proper on-site rig in (assemble) and rig out (disassemble) procedures, mixing, pumping, pressure tests, plug drops, wash ups, final inspections, and assist with location clean up.
  • Develop and apply an understanding of all gauges in the operator panel.
  • Monitor pump pressure, rates, densities, and volume during pumping performance; observe and report if anyone is needed in the hot zone.
  • Inspect and perform function tests before equipment leaves yard, ensuring all components are in working order.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on equipment maintenance and repairs (i.e. 300-hour maintenance, greasing unit and iron treating) and submit paperwork before shift end.
  • Perform shop maintenance on field equipment when required, including pumper spring maintenance and fluid end inspections.
  • Rebuild Chiksans and Neutron valves.
  • Assist the Supervisor in job preparations and incident reporting.
  • Adhere to and enforce company safety policies and ensure compliance with HSE legislation.
  • Develop and maintain strong external/internal client relationships in support of company values and objectives.
  • Establish and maintain procedures to ensure high level of service.
  • Participate in training and development activities.
  • Other general duties as required.
