About The Position

The Town of Stony Plain is recruiting for two (2) permanent full-time Parks Operators. These positions will be responsible for the maintenance duties of parks, outdoor recreation facilities and walking trail systems. The Operator I – Parks occasionally provides direction for seasonal staff. These positions will assist with other divisions and/or perform other duties as required.

Requirements

Knowledge of the Alberta Weed Control Act and related regulations.
Understanding of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods legislation.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience with heavy and light equipment operation.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in routine maintenance, landscaping, and construction tasks.
AB Environment Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain within 6-months).
A valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Minimum 3 years experience working with weed and pest control.
Minimum 3 years experience in turf maintenance, tree maintenance, snow and ice control, and outdoor ice maintenance.

Nice To Haves

Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake (Q) Endorsement.
First Aid Certification.
