About The Position

Lautenbach Recycling is hiring an Operations Yard Manager to lead daily operations at our Bakerview recycling facility in Bellingham . This role oversees yard operations, production flow, safety compliance, and team performance in a fast‑paced industrial recycling environment. This is a day‑shift, hands-on leadership position for someone who can manage people, production, and compliance while keeping operations moving safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience required
  • Experience in recycling, solid waste, manufacturing, or industrial operations preferred
  • Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
  • Comfortable managing people, production, and documentation
  • Ability to work in an active yard environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Equipment operating experience preferred
  • Safety or compliance leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Frequent walking and standing in an outdoor yard environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Exposure to noise, dust, weather, and heavy equipment

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily yard operations including receiving, sorting, processing, storage, and shipment of recyclable materials
  • Oversee material flow across multiple commodities to maximize efficiency, quality, and safety
  • Coordinate staffing, equipment usage, and workflow to meet production goals
  • Monitor production performance and make real‑time operational adjustments
  • Maintain yard organization, cleanliness, and material containment standards
  • Directly supervise yard staff, sorters, and equipment operators
  • Assign work, set expectations, and enforce accountability
  • Coach and train employees to improve performance and skills
  • Address attendance, safety, and performance issues promptly and professionally
  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA/state regulations
  • Conduct safety inspections, observations, and incident follow‑ups
  • Ensure safety training is completed, documented, and reinforced
  • Complete required operational and compliance documentation
  • Track staffing needs and scheduling coverage
  • Support audits, reporting, and internal compliance processes
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance needs and report issues
