About The Position

About Nellis Auction Nellis Auction (Nellis or “the Company”), headquartered in Las Vegas, NV, is a middle-market Direct-to-Consumer marketplace providing efficient liquidation services for returned or overstock inventory. Nellis sources these goods through major retailer/wholesaler relationships and currently operates in nine locations with more than 1,800 employees. The Company is a leader in the reverse logistics industry ($769B size) with significant relationship, operational, and technological competitive advantages. Given these competitive advantages, Nellis has experienced exponential revenue growth in recent years with more growth ahead. www.nellisauction.com Job Summary: The Operations Technology Specialist owns the technology Nellis Auction runs on and keeps it working, secure, accounted for and ready to scale. This role serves as the company's primary technology owner, responsible for all company hardware across every warehouse and the Home Office, the network at every site, and employee access to the devices and external applications our teams depend on. That means tracking where each device is, fixing or replacing it when it breaks, standardizing and securing each building's network, managing the internet service providers and hardware vendors behind it, and planning and budgeting for what the company will need next. As the first line of response for device, connectivity and access issues, this role's measure of success is simple: team members always have a working device in hand, a working connection and the right access, and no one keeps access they should no longer have. Based in Las Vegas and reporting to the Expansion Project Manager within the Operations Department, this role travels regularly between locations and plays a key part in getting technology ready for new buildings, shifts and regions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of IT support, network administration, field technician or operations technology experience, including at least 2 years in a lead or ownership role, ideally in a warehouse, distribution, logistics, retail or other multi-site environment
  • Hands-on experience supporting rugged mobile devices and RF scanners (Zebra, Honeywell or similar) and thermal label printers
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Wi-Fi, switches and access points) with experience standardizing multi-site networks, implementing backup internet and troubleshooting with internet service providers
  • Experience with mobile device management (MDM) platforms, device provisioning and secure data wiping
  • Experience administering user accounts and access in Google Workspace or similar platforms, and establishing network and device security standards
  • Experience implementing or administering a ticketing system and reporting on response-time and service-level metrics
  • Experience managing an asset inventory and building or managing a technology budget; experience negotiating and managing vendor contracts strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Google Workspace; experience with asset management tools a plus
  • Clear written communication, with the ability to write SOPs and job aids non-technical team members can follow
  • Strong customer service mindset and the ability to stay calm and prioritize when several sites need help at once
  • Self-directed and highly organized, with the ability to work independently as the company's primary technology resource
  • Must possess critical thinking skills, be an active listener, and work proactively with sound judgment and decision making
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for regular travel between Las Vegas warehouse locations and the Home Office
  • Travel to out-of-market locations and new site launches as needed
  • Schedule flexibility to support multiple shifts, with occasional after-hours or on-call coverage for urgent issues

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA A+, Network+ and/or Security+ certification preferred; equivalent experience will be considered

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain a real-time, accurate inventory of all company hardware, including RF devices, printers, tablets, laptops, network equipment and other technical assets across every warehouse location and the Home Office. Track each asset by site, assigned user, status and condition; run regular physical counts; and track loss, damage and repair trends so that problems are caught and fixed rather than quietly absorbed.
  • Serve as the first line of response for broken, malfunctioning or misconfigured devices. Triage, troubleshoot and repair issues quickly, on site or remotely, with a priority on getting team members back to work. Log every issue in the company ticketing system, and use the patterns to fix root causes, not just symptoms.
  • Develop and administer a ticketing system for all technology requests across the warehouses and the Home Office. Set response-time and resolution standards by issue priority, and deliver monthly reporting to operations leadership on ticket volume, response times, recurring issues and device downtime.
  • Own the RMA process with manufacturers and vendors to get devices repaired or replaced. Manage warranties and service contracts, track open RMAs to closure, and keep a ready pool of spare devices at each location so a broken device never becomes a production problem.
  • Own the network at every Nellis Auction site, including the Home Office. Develop and maintain a standard network design for each building covering internet service, switches, access points and Wi-Fi coverage, and keep network documentation current. Put backup internet in place at each site so an ISP outage does not stop operations. Serve as the first line of defense between Nellis Auction and third-party internet service providers. Troubleshoot network, Wi-Fi and connectivity issues; open, escalate and track tickets with providers; and hold vendors accountable to their service commitments. Identify recurring coverage or reliability problems and fix them through additional access points, site surveys or provider changes.
  • Establish, document and enforce network and device security standards across the company. Set up, configure and deploy devices to a consistent standard, including operating systems, applications, firmware updates and mobile device management settings. Keep devices and networks secured, lock or wipe lost or stolen devices, and manage device-level access, so the fleet stays consistent and protected across every building.
  • Manage employee login and access to company devices and external applications such as Gmail and Google Workspace, including provisioning at hire and on role changes. Remove all device and application access on the same day as a termination, tied directly to the company's termination request process, and audit access regularly to confirm it matches each employee's current role.
  • Own the end of the equipment lifecycle. Securely wipe all data from retired, returned or replaced equipment, manage disposal and recycling through approved vendors, and keep a documented record of each retired asset from collection through disposal.
  • Build and manage the annual technology budget for device replacements, fleet additions, network equipment and internet service, including backup connectivity. Forecast device needs based on roster growth, added shifts, and expanded buildings and regions, and partner with Finance and Accounting on purchasing, approvals and spend tracking.
  • Partner with the Expansion Project Manager to make sure every new building, region and shift is technology-ready before launch: internet service and backup connectivity installed, network built to the standard site design and coverage verified, devices configured and deployed, and printers set up and tested. Build and maintain a technology readiness checklist that makes each launch smoother than the last.
  • Stay current on warehouse technology such as rugged mobile computers, label and receipt printers, scanning, networking and device management tools. Pilot promising options and make clear, cost-justified recommendations to operations leadership.
  • Work with Industrial Engineering to recommend and standardize technical accessories such as lanyards, protective cases, holsters, chargers, mounts and charging stations. Test them for durability, ergonomics and total cost, and set a standard kit for each role and station.
  • Write and maintain SOPs and job aids for device configuration, printer cleaning and maintenance, basic troubleshooting, ticket submission, and device check-in and check-out. Train site leaders and designated super users on first-level troubleshooting so simple issues get solved on the shift they happen.
  • Serve as the company's point of contact for device manufacturers, resellers, internet service providers and other technology vendors. Negotiate, manage and renew ISP and hardware vendor contracts, track terms and renewal dates, and hold vendors to agreed service levels. Partner with Product and Engineering on issues where hardware meets software (WMS and application performance on devices), with HR on access provisioning and same-day removal at termination, and with site and regional leadership to prioritize technology needs.
