About The Position

We are seeking an Operations Technician at our Port Arthur, TX facility. The Port Arthur facility includes two Steam Methane Reformers (SMRs) with integrated turbine generators, as well as CO₂ capture systems at both SMRs, supporting enhanced oil recovery. The site is connected to an existing hydrogen pipeline system that spans from New Orleans to the Houston Ship Channel, supplying hydrogen to an integrated network serving customers across the Gulf Coast. As an operator, you are responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment within the facility. The primary function of this role is to provide technical, hands-on support to continuously improve plant operations, maintenance, mechanical equipment integrity, reliability, cost efficiency, and overall on-stream performance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Certificate in process technology or a maintenance-related field (preferred), or a minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, processing, or chemical/petrochemical environment; candidates with SkillsUSA participation are encouraged to apply
  • Students with a background in Industrial Systems, Electromechanical Technology, Process Technology, Electrical Technology, Instrumentation Technology are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement
  • Willingness to work weekends and participate in an on-call rotation as needed
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office
  • This is a safety-sensitive position

Nice To Haves

  • Strong mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical proficiency preferred
  • Experience with pumps, mechanical seals, vessels, exchangers, gear drives, compressors, rotating equipment, and/or electrical/instrumentation systems is a plus
  • Experience with plant/refinery instrumentation and electrical systems strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participate in core safety processes as an active member of the Site Safety Committee, sharing responsibility for overall site safety performance
  • Support day-to-day plant operations to meet on-stream, production, and reliability targets
  • Investigate equipment failures, determine root causes, and recommend solutions to prevent recurrence or eliminate issues
  • Maintain error-free execution by paying close attention to detail and completing work to the highest standard; apply a continuous improvement mindset
  • Assist in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns, providing technical, hands-on support as needed
  • Provide troubleshooting expertise for production units
  • Follow established operating procedures
  • Promote and adhere to all safety rules and regulations
