Come grow with us at Air Products as an Operations Technician for the Ocotillo, AZ site. The Operations Tech is responsible for the day-to-day safe operation of all onsite equipment and safety systems while complying with established Environmental, Health & Safety Standards to achieve an accident and injury free safe work environment. The operator is also required to follow and adhere to the established Quality Standards and Procedures designed to supply quality materials to our customers. Candidates will be required to meet training requirements and successfully pass scheduled validation reviews. This manufacturing site is located in Chandler Arizona, and includes two large-scale ASU’s (Air Separation Units), an OFA (Oil Free Air) production system, and a Hydrogen Electrolyzer system. This is a safety sensitive role.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical proficiency and/or military experience.
  • Teammate that is flexible and has a positive attitude.
  • Commitment to safety a must.
  • Experience working with DCS systems.
  • Ability to read/understand piping and instrumentation drawings a plus.
  • Desire and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, and participate in a mandatory on-call rotation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Computer proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work history and/or military experience a plus.
  • Electrical, instrument or mechanical maintenance experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and adjust plant process conditions using various valves and operating equipment.
  • Maintain an electronic logbook of operation activities.
  • Troubleshoot plant process upsets using various indicators and DCS trends.
  • Calibrate/Operate multiple process and pipeline analyzers.
  • Manage daily routines to include water treatment, equipment inspection, and log sheet readings.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain online training program requirements.
  • Issue safety work permits and perform lock-out / tag-out of various process equipment.
  • Support liquid bulk delivery systems and maintain storage tank production.
  • Inspect all work areas on a continuous basis for any mechanical problems, safety hazards and unusual operation conditions.
  • Keep work and supply areas in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
  • Ensure that all plant safety procedures are followed.
  • Attend/Participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Perform troubleshooting on equipment and make minor adjustments or submit work requests to maintenance as required.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating operating procedures as required.
