If the answer is YES, we have an Operations Technician/Plant Operator position for you in Baytown, TX! Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for an Operations Technician/Plant Operator at our Baytown 3 HyCO facility. Baytown 3 consists of a World Class SMR with an integrated syngas cold box and to Satellite Facilities. All compressed gas products are transported via pipelines, which connect to our West Gulf Coast pipeline supply systems. You will be responsible for controlling and monitoring the processes that produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide (e.g., utility systems, compressors, rotating equipment, and DCS operation). You will be expected to maintain water chemistry, perform daily operational tasks, and preventative maintenance as required. This is a 12-hour rotating shift position reporting to our Site Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Experience in operations, maintenance, or monitoring of industrial process plants.
  • Ability to read/understand piping and instrumentation drawings.
  • Electrical, instrument or mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Basic computer proficiency and software knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • A Teammate that is flexible and has a positive attitude.
  • Desire and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Commitment to safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience in operations, maintenance, or monitoring of industrial process plants is required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a TWIC upon hire.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.
  • A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Military experience or a Process Technology certificate or degree is preferred but is not required.
  • Technical School Graduates: Students with a background in Industrial Systems, Machine Tool Technology, Electromechanical Technology, Mechatronics, Automotive Technology, HVAC, Process Technology, Electrical Technology, Instrumentation Technology are encouraged to apply.
  • Military Veterans: This position would be best suited for Non-commissioned Officers with specific focus in technical fields. Veterans from any branch or MOS with hands-on mechanical skills and, for example, experience in propulsion systems, engineering fields, nuclear power, aircraft maintenance, cryogenic technicians, and civil engineering are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Controlling and monitoring the processes that produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide (e.g., utility systems, compressors, rotating equipment, and DCS operation).
  • Maintain water chemistry.
  • Perform daily operational tasks, and preventative maintenance as required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, safety inspections, and plant log readings.
  • Maintain online training program requirements.
  • Solving plant process upsets using various indicators and DCS trends.
  • Inspect all work areas on a continuous basis for any mechanical problems, safety hazards, and unusual operating conditions.
  • Keep work and storage areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
  • Perform troubleshooting on equipment.
  • Issue safety work permits and performs lock out / tag out of various process equipment.
  • Ensure that all plant safety, health, environmental and quality procedures are followed.
  • Attend and contribute to monthly safety meetings.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating operating procedures as required.
