Responsibilities

  • Performs various operations that support the production of parts.
  • Uses conventional polishing and belting lathes for specific belting and/or polishing operations based on engineering drawings (e.g., Fiber-wheel finish and/or Satin finish).
  • Uses conventional buffing/polishing lathes with appropriate buffing materials to acquire specified finishes.
  • Uses air and/or electric hand held tools for specific grinding, flapping or detailing on parts.
  • Determines proper media and machine settings for blasting operations based on engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Uses centrifugal and vibratory equipment for mass finishing operations, selecting appropriate media, compound, and water flow.
  • Fills out and completes paperwork and labor reporting transactions.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the work area.
  • Detects and reports faulty equipment, defective material, and unusual conditions to the supervisor or lead.
  • Uses hand truck, pallet jack, carts, and tables to safely transport product.
  • Dimensionally inspects work using tools such as calipers, comparators, pin gauges, measuring instruments, and surface plates.
  • Maintains work area, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
  • Completes all required training.
  • Supports Lean Manufacturing and EHS initiatives.
  • Supports quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Follows work orders to perform operations on various parts and products.
  • Follows designated safety rules and regulations, reinforcing safety expectations and ensuring safety operating practices are demonstrated.
  • Reports issues/concerns to Supervisor.
  • Performs weekly housekeeping per 5S schedule.
