About The Position

Schreiber Foods, Inc. has an opening for an Operations Systems/ Controls Developer in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. This role involves developing, building, and installing SCADA, MES, and information management solutions. The primary goal is to enhance productivity and safety through programming, configuration, graphics, HMI development, reporting, and database management. The position also focuses on designing solutions to improve the safety, efficiency, control, and performance of company assets and partners by collaborating with users and fellow operations systems/controls partners to identify opportunities, issues, and solutions. Additionally, the role provides issue support, troubleshooting, and proactive maintenance of operations systems, requiring 24/7 call availability and engagement with IT, Maintenance, or other support teams as needed. Project management, system implementation planning, and documentation are also key aspects of this role, ensuring minimal impact and risk to production processes and end users. Prioritization of requests and management of a system opportunities backlog through stakeholder alignment are essential. The role also includes implementing and supporting Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) solutions when they are the most suitable architectural choice. Finally, the position ensures compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans, customer requirements, and establishes/audits critical control points and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a closely related field.
  • 36 months of experience as an Operations Systems/Controls Developer or related position.
  • 36 months of experience in Operations Systems/Industrial Control Systems.
  • Experience with SCADA, HMI, MES, Historian, Report/Dashboard and programming.
  • Experience with hardware and software configuration, architecture, and design.
  • Experience with database skills such as tables, views, stored procedures, SQL queries, and reporting.
  • Experience in writing software code/scripting logic (i.e. Python).
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) concepts and programming logic and execution.
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance (at least state minimum- more might be required), acceptable driving record per Schreiber Foods discretion, and vehicle that will ensure applicant can meet the travel necessities of the position are required.
  • Authorization to work in the country in which the role is based.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, build, and install SCADA, MES, and information management solutions through programming/scripting, tag configuration, graphics, HMI's, reports/dashboards, and database systems to gain the productivity and safety outcomes designed in collaboration with stakeholders and partners.
  • Design solutions to improve safety, efficiency, control, and performance of company assets and partners by working collaboratively with users and fellow operations systems/controls partners to understand opportunities, issues, and potential solutions.
  • Provide issue support, troubleshooting, and proactive maintenance of operations systems, which requires 24/7 call availability, and engage appropriate IT, Maintenance, or other support teams for cross-functional support as necessary.
  • Manage projects and plan system implementations by considering impacts and risks to production processes and end users. Manage project tasks and communicate plans effectively. Build and manage system documentation and user training/guides for operations systems and changes impacting production.
  • Prioritize requests and manage a backlog of system opportunities for operations systems through alignment with key stakeholders and leaders.
  • Implement and support Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) solutions through programming, and communication configurations for situations where PLCs offer the best architected solution.
  • Together with the leadership team, ensures compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality Plans, in addition to customer requirements. Interprets and communicates customer requirements to plant production and/or support groups. Establishes and Audits PCPs, CCPs and Standard Operating Procedures to define and monitor processes, to ensure customer requirements are met. Reviews incidents during which the procedures are not met and determines appropriate corrective action for partners failing to follow standard procedures.
