Spirit Defense - Operations Support Specialist (Associate or Mid-level)
About The Position
This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit’s Defense Business Unit (“Spirit Defense”). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace. Through innovative engineering and rapid prototyping excellence, Spirit Defense provides the capabilities, technologies and support customers need to succeed in their missions. The Operations Support Specialist provides assistance in manufacturing and production processes, applies principles and practices typically associated with quality engineering, industrial engineering, and manufacturing engineering functions, and coordinates with other support disciplines or core functions as required. This role develops quality and cost-effective methods, standards, and systems for production by applying production engineering principles, participates in technical research on proposed projects, and offers guidance to manufacturing staff.
Requirements
- 2+ years of related experience
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required for security clearance
Nice To Haves
- Mid-Level (Level 3): 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree or Trade School certificate
- Understanding of fabrication and/or assembly build processes and sequencing
- Experience in Continuous improvement and Manufacturing Support
- FSDA implementation
- 3DX capability
- Familiarity with drilling and welding hard metals
- Familiarity with composite processes and materials
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-based environment
- Self-motivated; taking ownership of projects and issues, including follow through to closure
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
- Project Management experience
- Experience with MS Office Suite
- Experience with SAP
Responsibilities
