About The Position

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Supervisor directly oversees the safety, quality, productivity, production performance, and team performance. They are engaged in the coordination of work for employees in production and operations. The role ensures productivity/dock goals are met daily, weekly, quarterly, and annually, while complying with safety, quality, company, and engineering policies, regulations, and specifications. Responsibilities include team engagement, appraising performance, hiring and training employees, addressing complaints, resolving problems, managing productivity, and coordinating planning and scheduling for output and production. The Supervisor will partner with other departments to ensure clear communication of productivity goals, daily reporting, and participation in necessary meetings.

Requirements

  • 2 years of Supervisory experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, leading teams of 20+ people
  • Experience in aerospace/fastener/metals manufacturing industries, with strong knowledge of fastener materials preferred.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience with machining processes and special metal processing such as heat treating, paint, dry lube, and chemical plating
  • Experience in supporting NADCAP audits
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Good written/oral communications skills, as well as the ability to present views in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Able to deal effectively with a broad range of personalities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated project/team management capabilities that can meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Strong facilitation skills, conflict resolution and project management skills.
  • Interacts well and with a high degree of urgency to customers, and at all levels within the organization, as well as across organizations.
  • Confidence in working with ambiguity and handling complexity.

Nice To Haves

  • BS in Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or similar is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sets the standard for working safely and following all safety policies, leading by example and driving accountability through actions.
  • Champions the 6S program for the department, evaluating 6S weekly, identifying improvement projects, and participating in events.
  • Responsible for identifying and providing all required training for production employees and providing proper support documentation.
  • Recommends or implements measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
  • Recommends or executes personnel actions, such as hiring, evaluations, and promotions.
  • Clearly communicates and partners with necessary leadership to resolve personnel problems, complaints, or grievances.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Establishes, plans, and revises production schedules, assignments, and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  • Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Reviews variable costs, productivity, earned standard hours, and throughput daily and implements effective corrective actions when targets are not achieved.
  • Maintains operations data, such as time, production, and cost records, and prepares management reports of production results.
  • Determines standards, budgets, production goals, and rates, based on company policies, equipment and labor availability, and workloads.
  • Calculates labor and equipment requirements and production specifications, using standard formulas.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Observes work and monitors gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
  • Inspects materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions when necessary.
  • Requisitions materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services.
