About The Position

The Operations Supervisor supervises and coordinates day-to-day construction and D&D operations in radiological and non-radiological work areas to maintain production goals. The role works closely with Radiological Supervisors, Environmental Engineers, Radiological Engineers, Safety Personnel, and the Project Management Organization (PMO). It provides oversight and leadership to operations personnel, ensuring work meets safety, environmental, radiological, operational, schedule, and quality standards. The supervisor organizes work, manages crews and resources, coordinates field work groups and trades, monitors project progress, and keeps the Remediation Manager informed of job status.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least five years of experience as a supervisor in D&D operations and the construction industry, and/or in the Navy nuclear power field.
Obtain and maintain Radiological Controls qualifications and other qualifications as directed by Naval Reactors.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE “L” security clearance.
Extensive background in D&D and construction operations and/or the Navy nuclear power program to provide daily oversight and supervision while meeting safety, environmental, radiological engineering, and operations standards.
Ability to perform simple operations on a personal computer in support of work.
Ability to complete administrative paperwork with little or no errors.

Responsibilities

Work autonomously within established procedures and practices to perform assigned tasks.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, company, and NRF-specific health and safety regulations to prevent accidents.
Use experience, practices, and precedents to exercise judgment and solve problems, including those with little or no precedent.
Provide supervisory oversight and leadership to personnel to maintain high safety, environmental, radiological, and operational standards.
Maintain adequate materials, equipment, and consumables for each work area and crew; procure materials and inspect them for quality.
Organize daily work, inspect site conditions, manage on-site activities, and identify potential safety, schedule, cost, and other project risks.
Ensure work under the supervisor’s control is performed safely and efficiently.
Inspect work for compliance with blueprints, specifications, and quality standards.
Serve as the operations liaison among field work groups and between seller and buyer follow groups.
Schedule work, manage conflicts between trades, and resolve those conflicts.
Maintain awareness of field status for all assigned jobs and inform the Remediation Manager of job status.
Ensure radiological controls, individual training, and work practices are appropriate to conditions at the work site.
Audit work in progress for compliance with established procedures.
Track personnel exposure at the job site and ensure available personnel have adequate exposure capacity to complete tasks.
Control completion of routine and non-routine operations by planning work and targeting deadlines to maintain the production schedule.
Monitor project progress, identify bottlenecks, and adjust workflows to meet deadlines.
Submit scheduling information to the Production Coordinator as needed.
Work with engineering to identify required material purchases and procurement activities.
Perform technical work-document review, scheduling, cost control and tracking, employee relations, and work-quality activities.
