About The Position

CrossCountry Freight Solutions (CCFS) is seeking a dynamic Operations Supervisor to join their team. This leadership role is crucial for daily operations, directly influencing success by guiding freight handlers, ensuring efficient loading/unloading, and upholding company policies to maintain a positive work culture. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the safety, quality, and productivity of assigned dock operations. This role involves coordinating with operations leaders system-wide to determine and implement line haul load patterns and schedules, overseeing unloading, staging, and loading procedures to minimize freight damage, maximize load quality and capacity, and promote on-time delivery. Additionally, the supervisor ensures the safety of all equipment, fleet, and facilities, and corrects deficiencies as they arise. The ideal candidate has LTL freight experience, takes ownership of their shift, and can develop a team while keeping freight moving safely and on time.

Requirements

  • Two years of LTL freight experience.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Forklift certification or demonstrated proficiency required
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication (written and verbal), analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry
  • At least 21 years of age
  • This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment skills assessment.

Nice To Haves

  • Yard truck/spotter experience preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that dock operations are performed safely and efficiently, overseeing and assisting with the loading and unloading of freight
  • Develops dock door assignment, staging, and yard management plan to support operations in cooperation with the service center manager and other operations supervisors.
  • Supervise freight handlers, oversee the hiring, training, scheduling, and disciplinary actions
  • Educate employees on company procedures and policies
  • Conducts weekly and/or daily meetings with shift personnel to discuss updates and address any issues
  • Coordinate with personnel to maintain and repair company equipment
  • Monitors misrouted and damaged shipments to determine root cause and implement corrective action.
  • Work with customers to resolve freight issues
  • Responsible for overseeing the quality handling of paperwork
  • Able to carry out the job duties of positions supervised to ensure customer service expectations are met
