About The Position

Responsible for providing supervision and supporting the daily operations for the fixed route and demand response services. Communicate consistent and accurate information to Bus Operators and the public. Ensure compliance with ADA and DOT regulations through regular and consistent daily observation and counsel. Assigns and directs Bus Operators and Dispatchers. Supports and assists Bus Operators; provides feedback and training. Provides customer service through daily interaction with passengers, the community, and GMT’s community partners. Ensures all scheduled routes are performed in a timely and accurate manner. Monitors and manages Bus Operator compliance with route and schedule adherence. Manages detours/road closures and other interruptions to transit service; adjusts service accordingly and communicates with the marketing department. Monitors on-time performance (OTP) and manages OTP digital integrity. Observes and reports information to GMT Operations management. Drives transit bus in revenue service, non-revenue service, or as required by GMT management. Work in the Dispatch Office as required. Facilitates and implements new bid schedules. Conducts reasonable suspicion assessment as required. Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards and adhering to legal regulations. Responds to accidents and incidents and documents per operating procedure. Makes and/or recommends disciplinary action when Bus Operators violate company standards and legal regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of the safe and efficient operation of the transit bus routes.
  • Proficient in or have the ability to become proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Mail.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse population.
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment as situations arise.
  • A Class B Commercial Drivers’ License with Passenger endorsements is required.
  • A clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass standard background checks.
  • A DOT medical physical.
  • A pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate’s degree and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a transit-related field is preferred.

Benefits

  • Starting wage is $35.65 per hour.
  • This is a full-time, non-exempt, 40 hours a week position, and may include overtime.
  • 8.67 hours of paid time off accrued per pay period; equivalent to 5+ weeks off.
