About The Position

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for and works with all packaging personnel to meet set objectives and KPI’s for their assigned stations productivity, efficiency, and organization of product quality, employee safety and food safety. This role oversees and directs daily activities of assigned packaging shift employees, ensures orders meet customer specifications, and captures production data. The supervisor plans and coordinates daily work, advises on strategies to ensure production, and oversees equipment setup for efficient operation. They maintain product quality, monitor the production process for a smooth flow, and resolve operational problems. Performance of employees is monitored to ensure production targets are met, and products and operations are visually inspected for quality. The supervisor filters planning changes, suggests product inventory based on schedule, and provides daily reports. Communication meetings are held as necessary, and corporate GMPs, personnel, and safety policies are carried out while maintaining discipline. A safe and clean work environment is maintained by educating personnel on equipment and resource usage, ensuring compliance with policies. The role involves cross-training in labels, supporting and enforcing safety policies, and performing other assigned job functions. Adherence to Grower Direct Nut Co. regulations, food safety, sanitation, and production guidelines is required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in both English and Spanish is required to lead and support a diverse workforce, conduct meetings, and ensure accurate understanding of company policies and safety procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize jobs.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must have a valid Driver License.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be a "team player", able to work well with fellow employees.
  • Must be dependable, reliable, and able to work independently.
  • Regular attendance required.
  • Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
  • Strong leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct daily activities of assigned packaging shift employees such as Line Leads, Packaging machine Operators and Temporary workers
  • Assure that each order is according to customer specs or GDN product specs and labeling specification; trains line leads.
  • Assure that all shift production data is captured into GDA (portal) daily.
  • Involve daily communication with Operations Supervisor, Leads and all employees necessary in the operations process.
  • Plan, coordinate, advise and lead employees of work to be completed daily; help strategize as needed to ensure production.
  • Ensure operation of equipment by overseeing daily set up of machinery and equipment prior to production for efficient and effective operation.
  • Maintain product quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Monitor production process to ensure smooth flow.
  • Receive and resolve operation problems for shift.
  • Monitor performance of bulk packing line employees to ensure they are meeting production targets/KPI’s.
  • Visually inspect products and/or operations to ensure quality of products inbound and outbound in packaging lines.
  • Filter info on planning changes for line leads; suggest (product inventory) based on schedule as needed to planner.
  • Give verbal and written reports daily to Operations Supervisor and any other personnel to submit appropriate documentation and communication.
  • Hold communication meeting when necessary, with shift personnel
  • Carry out corporate GMP’s, personnel and safety policies while maintaining discipline within the plant.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Crosstrain in labels needed.
  • Support, participate and enforce GDN safety policies, company rules, and code of safe practice.
  • Perform all positions of rotation, if applicable to cover absences.
  • Perform other various job functions as may be assigned.
  • Follow and ensure adherence to established Grower Direct Nut Co., local, state, and federal regulations and requirements as well as food safety, sanitation, food production and nutritional guidelines.
  • Establish and ensure adherence to procedures and standards, which are in agreement with these regulations, requirements and guidelines.
