About The Position

Clemens Food Group is a leader in pork production and value-added protein products, committed to operational excellence, food safety, and continuous improvement. Our Hatfield facility spans 1.3 million square feet and processes over 625 million pounds annually. We are launching a new project which includes an expansion focused on further processing capabilities. This is an opportunity to build and lead operations from the ground up and play a key role in shaping the future of our business. As an Operations Superintendent, you will own the full operational execution of new further processing lines. This is not a maintenance role—this is a builder role.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of operations leadership in food manufacturing, ideally in: Further processing (strongly preferred), Protein (pork, poultry, beef, ground or value-added products), RTE, or cooked/meat processing environments
  • Proven experience leading large teams (200+ hourly, 4–6+ direct reports)
  • Hands-on experience with production startup, scaling operations, or new line implementation
  • Entrepreneurial, self-driven leader who can build from scratch
  • Strong floor presence with the ability to influence and hold teams accountable
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex operational problems and drive results through others
  • Comfortable taking full ownership of responsibility
  • Strong understanding of: Yields, throughput, labor efficiency, and cost control, Operational KPIs and plant performance metrics
  • Experience managing budgets, labor variance, and cost improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge of USDA, FDA, HACCP, and food safety standards

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pre-cooked sausage, bacon, RTE, or marinated protein operations
  • Background in scaling or launching new production lines or facilities
  • Ability to build teams and culture in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Responsibilities

  • Stand up new production lines (pre-cooked sausage, bacon, RTE, fresh sausage)
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing operations team
  • Establish processes, accountability, and performance standards from day one
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure successful startup and long-term scalability
  • Own the startup and operational success of new further processing lines, from planning through execution
  • Lead 4–6 direct reports and 200+ hourly team members; drive accountability, engagement, and retention
  • Own and improve: Safety & Food Safety compliance, Quality standards, Labor efficiency & retention, Operational variances & cost (Ops spend), Throughput, yields, and waste reduction
  • Act as a critical thinker and solution provider, removing roadblocks and influencing outcomes across teams
  • Partner with FSQA, Maintenance, HR, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless startup and operations
  • Implement Lean / CI practices to optimize performance and scale operations
