About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Crisis Management and Preparedness, coordinates Area Emergency Response plans (AEP) for the University, to include branch and satellite campuses. Collaborates with various internal and external stakeholders. Provides community education in emergency management principles and procedures and assists with exercising of AEPs. Designs, develops, coordinates, and facilitates the execution of specified projects and initiatives for a major, multifaceted operating entity of the University. Establishes project priorities and schedules, in line with strategic plans and operating objectives. Provides specialized advice, facilitation, and support to management, faculty, staff, and/or students in the development and implementation of effective systems, procedures, programs, and/or practices. May oversee one or more specified key operational or business functions for the unit, as appropriate to individual requirements. Additional Duties as assigned. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of comprehensive emergency management experience.
  • Knowledge of emergency management programs and operations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Knowledge and understanding of institutional emergency management principles, procedures, and standards.
  • Knowledge of local, State, and Federal emergency systems and agencies, to include law enforcement, fire prevention/protection, and emergency medical services.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines related to emergency management and disaster medical assistance.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and handle high-pressure situations calmly and professionally.
  • Familiarity with emergency response protocols and crisis management procedures.
  • Advanced working knowledge of hospital and university specific disaster planning, processes, systems, recovery, and resource requirements.
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct multiple activities.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
  • Ability to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
  • Knowledge of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) hazards, and response and mitigation procedures and techniques.
