The Apple Customer Systems Operations team is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer with operational depth to join our team. In this role, you will primarily focus on designing, building, and owning full-stack software systems and automation platforms that power the reliability, observability, and operational intelligence of our business-critical, globally distributed applications. Requirements

  • 5 + years work experience or 4 years with Masters.
  • B.S in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar or equivalent related work experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot / JEE)/ Python /FastAPI / React for developing high performance systems.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and shipping end-to-end software systems — backend, API layer, and front-end — with a focus on reliability and developer experience.
  • Hands-on experience with database schema design and data access technologies (SQL and/or NoSQL).
  • Experience with observability tooling (Splunk, Hubble, ExtraHop, or equivalent) for log analysis, distributed tracing, and dashboarding — a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop, and own full-stack applications and internal platforms that automate operational workflows, system monitoring, and incident management at scale.
  • Build robust backend services and REST/GraphQL APIs using Java (JEE/Spring Boot) and Python (FastAPI), following clean architecture principles with a focus on performance, testability, and maintainability.
  • Develop rich, responsive front-end dashboards and tooling using React, enabling operations and engineering teams to gain real-time visibility into system health, incidents, and KPIs.
  • Design and implement AI/LLM-powered automation agents and MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers to intelligently handle operational tasks, reduce manual intervention, and surface actionable insights.
  • Build scalable data pipelines, ingestion services, and integration layers that aggregate signals from distributed systems, monitoring tools (Splunk, Hubble, ExtraHop), and internal APIs.
  • Work with a team of highly skilled engineers supporting a group of applications and guide their work towards operations excellence, gaining efficiency by automating their daily routine tasks.
  • Planning and execution of system health monitoring, incident response, and communication across critical global applications to drive operational metrics tracking, KPI identification, and process improvements through coordination with support and engineering teams.
