About The Position

Serves as an operations research analyst guiding complex, precedent-setting studies of Army forces and systems, directing analytical frameworks, data acquisition, modeling, and multidisciplinary teams to inform high-level decision-makers and support critical Army missions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Special Sensitive/TOP SECRET security clearance.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) business travel may be required approximately 25% of the time.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
  • This position is subject to a one-year supervisory probationary period.
  • Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
  • One year of specialized experience which includes applying operations research methodologies and advanced data analytics to address complex organizational and operational challenges; leading multidisciplinary analytic teams to conduct operational analyses and present findings to senior leaders to inform strategic decision making; preparing briefings that translate technical analytic results into actionable insights for non-analyst stakeholders; developing comprehensive analytic plans that set clear priorities and guide large-scale, multi-phase analytic studies.
  • Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Courses in theory of probability and statistics are highly desirable but are not specified as minimum educational requirements because to do so would possibly exclude some applicants who would otherwise be well qualified.

Responsibilities

  • Direct theater-level force structure and capability analyses.
  • Conduct studies on logistics, cyber, space, electronic warfare, CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive), resource utilization, campaign scenarios, mobilization, deployment, and system acquisition.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to define analytical approaches for major Army projects and initiatives.
  • Provide first-line supervision, guiding study execution and overseeing the work of subordinate analysts.
