About The Position

The Operations Reliability Assistant Manager will be based in the Minneapolis area and will work at various grain elevators, flour mills, and soybean processing plants throughout the US Midwest, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and North Carolina. This position requires travel to all locations. The role involves commitment to worker safety, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company policies and procedures. The Assistant Manager will supervise and manage business objectives and operations teams, effectively communicate tasks and directives, and oversee daily operations of the facilities. They will provide leadership, support, and accountability for implementing safety, regulatory, and company programs. The role also includes motivating the team, ensuring compliance with regulations, coordinating maintenance and repairs, performing safety inspections, monitoring facility safety and quality controls, and assisting with managing the business according to pre-set objectives. Knowledge of operations, systems, policies, and procedures, including weighing materials, manipulating controls for equipment and material flow, recording data, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and observing operations to detect malfunctions, is essential.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • This job requires the ability to read and comprehend written and oral operational and safety instructions and related rules, policies and memos, and to communicate clearly with co-workers and supervisors.
  • For safety reasons, must be able to read, write, understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Background/experience with the current SIMON Maintenace system is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in agricultural-related studies or Business with relevant work experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Commitment to worker safety, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Effectively supervise and manage business objectives and operations team.
  • Effectively communicate tasks, directives and policies with both senior management and supervised workers.
  • Oversee daily operations of the facilities.
  • Provide leadership, support, and accountability to implement all required safety, regulatory, and Company programs and protocols.
  • Motivate the team to be the best they can be and take pride in their daily tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations, in addition to Company policy.
  • Coordinate maintenance, and large repairs with the operations team and senior management.
  • Perform safety inspections, monitors facility safety and quality controls.
  • Oversee and monitor preventative maintenance, quality and operational programs and results.
  • Assist with managing the business according to pre-set objectives.
  • Knowledgeable of all operations, systems, policies and procedures including, but not limited to: Weighing or measuring materials and products and using scales or other measuring instruments to verify specified tonnages Manipulating controls, levers, and valves to start pumps, auxiliary equipment or conveyors, and to adjust equipment positions, speeds, timing, and material flows Recording and tracking data such as weights, types, quantities and storage locations of materials, as well as equipment performance problems and downtime Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining equipment, machinery, and work stations, using hand tools, shovels, brooms, chemicals, hoses, and lubricants Observing conveyor operations and monitor lights, dials, and gauges, to maintain specified operating levels and to detect equipment malfunctions
