About The Position

A Co-Op position at Heraeus Medevio offers students an 8-month (May 2027-December 2027) hands-on, immersive, and project-based experience in R&D and Operations engineering fields. Engineering Co-Ops work under the guidance of experienced engineers to contribute to real-world projects in areas like design, testing, manufacturing, or product development. Co-Ops can expect to work on medical device innovations while receiving professional mentorship and industry exposure. This will be an on-site position in our White Bear Lake, MN location. Occasional travel to the Fridley, MN location may be needed. The Operations Quality Engineering Co-Op will predominately be project-focused and can additionally support other aspects of production quality including statistical analysis, qualifications, and nonconformance resolution. The role will ensure compliance with established procedures and processes while also driving continuous improvement within cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or comparable Engineering program.
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite during the duration of the co-op.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read blueprints and read or interpret standards.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member.
  • Driven to learn more about real-world application of academic engineering concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general support to various engineering focused cross-functional teams through the various stages of the product lifecycle, providing inspection, correlation, characterization, DOE, PFMEA, qualification, GR&R, and data analysis support using sound statistical methods.
  • Provide support for the nonconforming material and product process which includes investigation, disposition, and identifying corrective and preventative actions.
  • Utilize statistical tools to monitor and assess product performance, identify root causes, and determine potential process improvement opportunities.
  • Provide support for system implementation and improvements, including SPC/SQS software.
  • Participate in other operations and quality team meetings and activities.
  • Respond to changing priorities in a timely manner.
  • Other duties assigned as required.
