About The Position

Stanislaus Food Products, a family-owned company renowned for its high-quality Italian-style tomatoes and sauces, is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Operations Production Intern. This seasonal, full-time, on-site position at our Modesto Cannery offers hands-on experience in process improvement, operational excellence, technical writing, documentation management, and quality management. The intern will support the documentation, standardization, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by evaluating existing processes and converting them into clear, user-friendly documents. This role involves close collaboration with subject matter experts and operational teams, providing exposure to real-world business workflows and version control systems.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, Technical Writing, or a related field.
  • Strong written communication and editing skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to organize information logically and clearly.
  • Comfortable asking questions and working with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or similar documentation tools.
  • Able to work full-time, Monday – Friday, with weekends and holidays as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with process mapping or workflow diagrams (Visio, Lucidchart, etc.)
  • Familiarity with SOPs, quality systems, or compliance documentation.
  • Basic understanding of operational or technical processes.
  • Experience in documentation, technical writing, or quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Observing and documenting existing operational processes and workflows.
  • Interviewing team members and subject matter experts to gather process details.
  • Drafting, editing, and formatting Standard Operating Procedures in a consistent template.
  • Ensuring SOPs are clear, concise, and easy to follow.
  • Organizing and maintaining SOP documentation in shared systems or repositories.
  • Revising and updating SOPs based on feedback and process changes.
  • Assisting with version control and document approval tracking.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by identifying gaps or inefficiencies in documented processes.
  • Collaborating closely with shift leadership to ensure operational accuracy and alignment.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
