About The Position

The DH Pace Company, a family-owned and privately held business with over $1 billion in annual sales and 60+ offices across the continental United States, is a leader in the distribution, installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial, industrial, and residential door, docking, and security products. The Bloomington, IL office is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee daily operations, manage field installers and service technicians, and drive revenue growth in new construction and service work for various door types. This role requires a passion for operations, project management, sales, and customer service, with a strong ability to foster team building. The Operations Manager will be responsible for employee and job scheduling, technical troubleshooting, and managing day-to-day operations in a fast-paced environment. They will ensure staff adhere to company best practices, policies, and procedures, and gain a comprehensive understanding of operational and sales processes, customer satisfaction, staff management, and profitability to meet financial budgets. The role also involves calling on customers for sales opportunities, preparing bids and quotes, managing pool and routing efficiencies, and ensuring departmental capacity while maintaining high customer service standards. Additionally, the manager will oversee Length of Service reporting, conduct SODD and Ageing meetings, assist with hiring and training, coach employees, and conduct performance reviews. Effective communication with customers, occasional site visits, leading monthly safety and department meetings, and financial reviews are also key aspects of the position. Other responsibilities and projects may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience managing field and office personnel, sales, projects, budgets and financials, ordering materials, and interfacing with customers and sales staff
  • Proficient with Windows based programs and ERP/CRM systems
  • Analytical skills to evaluate operational data, processes, procedures, financial results, survey feedback and other metrics to determine cause/effect relationships with ability to isolate key information and discern the impact of process or procedural changes
  • Possess an ability for technical applications and mechanical systems
  • Good driving record and valid driver’s license required
  • Successful completion of references, employment verifications, background check, and drug screen required in advance of hire

Responsibilities

  • Assist with employee/job scheduling
  • Assist with technical/mechanical trouble shooting and problem resolutions
  • Manage day-to-day operations with a high sense of urgency and fast paced culture
  • Ensure staff perform the required daily tasks in their respective areas with utilization of the company’s best practices, policies and procedures
  • Gain full understanding of, and expectations for, operational and sales procedures and processes, customer satisfaction, staff management, profitability of work performed, and return on sales that meet or exceed the annual financial budget/forecast
  • Call on customers for sales opportunities to increase sales revenues
  • Prepare bids and quotes
  • Ensure proper pool management, correct routing efficiencies and daily schedules maximize department capacity while providing a high level of customer service
  • Effectively manage to ensure positive results on all Length of Service reporting and metrics
  • Ensure productive SODD and Ageing meetings happen weekly and are effective
  • Assist with hiring, training, and developing employees
  • Improve individual performance of the field force through regular coaching of managers and yearly performance reviews
  • Effectively communicate with customers, ensuring the highest quality service has been provided
  • Occasional travel to jobs sites/customers as necessary
  • Effectively develop and lead monthly safety meetings, department meetings and financial reviews
  • Achieve financial objectives set forth by senior management team
  • Other responsibilities and projects as assigned
