About The Position

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the precast manufacturing facility. Leadership of supervisors, technicians, and production staff, ensuring efficient processes, on-time delivery of high-quality products, and compliance with safety regulations are all key components of the role. This role works closely with the General Manager and the sales/customer service team to implement operational strategies, drive performance improvements, and meet production targets.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in operations or production management, preferably in the precast concrete or construction materials industry.
  • Proven experience in leading teams, managing budgets, and overseeing manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of precast concrete products, production methods, and industry standards.
  • In-depth understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Safety conscious mind-set.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and operational efficiency.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Proactive, results-oriented with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with production management software or ERP systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of production within the precast facility, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Coordinate the production schedule and optimize workflow to meet client demands.
  • Implement efficient production processes and recommend improvements to maximize productivity.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, quality, and waste reduction.
  • Lead and mentor a team of production supervisors, operators, and other staff, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and teamwork.
  • Develop and execute training programs to enhance team skills and performance.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching and development opportunities for staff.
  • Champion safety in the workplace by ensuring compliance with all local, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing health and safety policies and conducting regular safety audits.
  • Ensure all staff members are properly trained on safety procedures and equipment.
  • Implement and enforce quality control processes to ensure the highest standard of products are delivered.
  • Work closely with the QC team to address any issues and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to maintain product integrity and compliance with industry standards.
  • Oversee inventory control, ordering of raw materials, and ensure proper stock levels to meet production schedules.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and coordinate the timely delivery of materials to avoid production delays.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing team to source cost-effective materials and manage waste reduction.
  • Manage the operational budget, controlling costs, and improving profitability.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining product quality and delivery timelines.
  • Regularly analyze operational costs and recommend improvements for efficiency.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives by identifying bottlenecks or inefficiencies and implementing solutions.
  • Research and apply industry standards and best practices to improve production flow and reduce waste.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring projects are delivered on time and meet client specifications.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on production status, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the sales and field teams to establish, communicate, and coordinate installation deadlines to meet client standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
