About The Position

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing the operations of the plant to meet and exceed plant key performance indicators. This role manages the daily operations of the batch house, furnaces, hot end production, cold end production, and warehouse operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience working in packaging or glass industry
  • Proficient working with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Travel up to 10%

Nice To Haves

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, business, or related field
  • Prior experience working in the glass container industry
  • Prior experience leading a unionized workforce
  • Prior experience working with SAP ERP
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a safe and healthy work environment using sustainable environmental policies and continuous improvement programs
  • Assist in people development of the operations team including succession planning, identifying training needs, recruiting and interviewing, annual salary reviews, and performance reviews
  • Ensure the manufacturing of glass containers is within customer specifications and quality standards are strictly adhered to while meeting the financial goals of the plant or department
  • Direct assigned plant department planning, scheduling, and production functions in consideration of scheduled projects, holidays, and maintenance repairs
  • Monitor and communicate process improvement initiatives and make recommendations to improve the manufacturing process and process control
  • Maintain good customer relations through regular communication and maintaining the highest level of quality
  • Work in coordination with plant engineering team to adhere to and improve on plant maintenance program
  • Assume Plant Manager responsibilities as required
  • Comply with environmental and food safety standards as set forth in plant policies and programs within the departmental responsibilities
