About The Position

McCormick is seeking to hire an Operations Manager immediately at their McCormick New Mexico facility in Las Cruces, New Mexico. This role is responsible for directing the daily operations of production departments to ensure timely product manufacture, service levels, quality standards, cost controls, line efficiencies, plant sanitation, employee safety, and regulatory compliance. The Operations Manager will also direct and control production departments to maintain plant efficiencies and standards, prepare standards and budgets for direct labor, materials, and supplies, and ensure strict compliance with all regulatory agency standards. This position involves directing departmental managers to achieve maximum production efficiencies at minimum costs while upholding service levels and Food Safety/Quality standards. Additionally, the role focuses on fostering good employee relations, implementing safety programs, training, and discipline, and conducting timely management meetings for effective communication. The Operations Manager will also assist in the plant budget process and monitoring, monitor production schedules to meet customer demands, and ensure adherence to food safety production area policies, including the color-coded container policy. A key aspect of the role is to understand, observe, and comply with SQF level 2 and/or Government requirements/standards, and to promptly inform management of any Food Safety or Quality issues or non-compliant processes. The manager must be able to initiate action to prevent non-conformities and control further processing of non-conforming products until deficiencies are corrected. In the absence of the Operations Manager, the Plant Manager will assume operational and administrative duties.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree
  • 5 years in manufacturing industry and preferably the food industry

  • Must be able to lift, push pull and carry objects of moderate weight up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Directing the daily operation of the production departments to ensure the manufacture of products on a timely schedule; to ensure service levels while maintaining quality standards, cost controls, line efficiencies, plant sanitation, employee safety and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Direct, control and manage production departments to maintain plant efficiencies and standards.
  • Prepare standards and budget for direct labor, materials and supplies.
  • Maintain the plant in strict compliance with all regulatory agency standards.
  • Direct the activities of the departmental Managers to ensure maximum production efficiencies at minimum costs, at proper service levels and Food Safety / Quality standards.
  • Ensure good employee relations, a safety program, training, and discipline.
  • Conduct timely management meetings to assure communications at all levels of management.
  • Make sure all necessary information is communicated to departments, employees, and directors.
  • Assist in the plant budget process and in the monitoring of the budget.
  • Monitor production schedules to ensure that they meet the demands and requirements of the customer.
  • Notify Supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required.
  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet SQF level 2, and or Government requirements / standards as prioritized by the Company.
  • Inform Management of ANY Food Safety or Quality issues or of any processes, which become non-compliant with specified requirements.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
