About The Position

Road & Rail Services is seeking an Operations Manager to provide management oversight for the Vehicle Handling department. This role involves interviewing and hiring applicants, training new hires, daily planning, conducting safety meetings, directing workflow, and completing loading plans. The Operations Manager will ensure site compliance with Safety, SOP, and customer requirements, exercising discretion and independent judgment in matters of employee status changes. This position is crucial for maintaining compliance with various industry, customer, and company regulations, including OSHA, EPA, FRA, DOT, AAR, ISA, and ISO standards. The role also focuses on continuous improvement of service quality and efficiency.

Requirements

Railroad supervisory or management experience preferred
Valid state driver's license
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
Ability to work in fast paced environment
Safety first mentality

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and management oversight for the Vehicle Handling department.
Ensure site compliance with Safety, SOP, and customer requirements.
Interview and hire applicants.
Train new hires.
Conduct daily planning and safety meetings.
Direct work flow.
Complete all loading plans.
Ensure compliance with all industry, customer, and company safety regulations and operating procedures.
Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance within the scope of duties, including but not limited to hire, fire, promotions or other changes in employee status.
Ensure compliance with all applicable Company, Customer, OSHA, EPA, FRA and DOT regulations by performing key audits and/or relevant inspections.
Ensure all associates understand and comply with applicable customer and company work instructions, quality procedures and site SOP's.
Continually seek and document methods for improvement in the quality of the services being provided and the efficiency in which those services are conducted.
