About The Position

Kirkwood Meadows Public Utility District, California Operations Manager Lead Essential Utility Operations in a One-of-a-Kind Mountain Community Kirkwood Meadows Public Utility District is seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to oversee essential utility and community services in a unique mountain setting. This role leads daily and seasonal operations across electric, propane, water, wastewater, snow removal, parks, and employee housing while promoting safety, reliability, teamwork, and responsive public service. Plan, direct, and coordinate District operations, including electric, propane, water, wastewater, snow removal, parks, and employee housing. Ensure safe, compliant, and reliable service delivery consistent with District policies and applicable regulations. Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate assigned staff while supporting a strong safety culture. Oversee operational planning, reporting, budgets, contractors, emergency response, and customer or agency coordination. Work Schedule: Typical schedule is 7am-3:30pm, 5 days a week. Days off may change due to seasonal demands or staffing needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University with major coursework in Business Administration, Engineering or Project Management.
  • Six (6) years’ experience in a management or supervisory capacity in a public agency.
  • Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
  • Must have a valid Class C or higher driver’s license, and a clean DMV report.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to self-direct.
  • At least 10 years of experience in either water/wastewater or electric/propane utility operations.
  • Prioritize and lead capital and O&M projects for a public utility with an extremely small staff.
  • Comfortable working in extreme weather conditions and a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate District operations, including electric, propane, water, wastewater, snow removal, parks, and employee housing.
