About The Position

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all operational functions at a designated location, including transportation, receiving, warehousing, and value-added services. This role ensures that operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company strategy. The Operations Manager drives operational performance through continuous improvement, effective leadership, and strong cross-functional collaboration while maintaining high standards for safety, service, and productivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Ten years of warehouse supervisory experience
  • Certified forklift or Raymond operator
  • Computer and internet research skills
  • Ability to prepare and adhere to a budget
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Extremely resourceful and ability to show initiative; use internal resources to achieve desired results
  • Able to work independently
  • Able to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, and creativity to changing needs and situations
  • Able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in course of work

Responsibilities

  • Assess and analyze operations processes to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and minimize expenses
  • Assists with budgeting and forecasting expenses, preparation of budgets, analyzes variances and develops action plans to correct variances as needed
  • Achieve operational objectives by reviewing metrics and pertinent information; make recommendations based upon the review; prepare and complete action plans and lead the implementation as needed
  • Serve as the Operations Leader, leading all efforts to include strict adherence to Operational Excellence Audit Guidelines and established best practices. Position deliverables include, but are not limited to productivity improvement, policies enforcement, quality, service improvement, staffing to the required headcount, world-class training, and maintaining a safety-first culture
  • Embrace lean and strict inventory management principles and processes to effectively manage inventory
  • Oversee all Warehouse and Transportation operations, ensuring equipment and facilities are maintained at all times to ensure superior customer service expectations are met
  • Ensure Equipment and facilities are maintained
  • Provide customer service training to employees to promote and deliver superior customer service at all times
  • Continually analyze processes, workflows, productivity, and staffing to lead Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Promote the health and welfare of employees and ensure proper safety protocols are followed
  • Inspect what is expected. Hold teams accountable for results while leading by example in actions
  • Lead cross functional teams in the development and execution of best practices and projects
  • Evaluate direct reports for continued growth and all functions for cross training opportunities. Implement mentoring, cross training, and bench development principles while leveraging EMS University and external resources
  • Ensure all team members work in a safe and productive manner
