Operations Manager--Railcar Vehicle Unloader
About The Position
Road & Rail Services is a growing Rail & Logistics company seeking an Operations Manager for their Vehicle Unloader department in Elwood, IL. The Operations Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations and provide management oversight for the Vehicle Handling department. Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring applicants, training new hires, daily planning, conducting safety meetings, directing work flow, and completing all loading plans. The role requires ensuring site compliance with Safety, SOP, and customer requirements.
Requirements
- Railroad supervisory or management experience preferred
- Valid state driver's license
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to work in fast paced environment
- Safety first mentality
Responsibilities
- Comply with all industry, customer and company safety regulations and operating procedures
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance within the scope of duties, included but not limited to hire, fire, promotions or other changes in employee status
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable Company, Customer, OSHA, EPA, FRA and DOT regulations by performing key audits and/or relevant inspections. These are included but not limited to AAR, ISA, ISO, etc.
- Ensuring all associates understand and comply with applicable customer and company work instructions, quality procedures and site SOP's
- Continually seek and document methods for improvement in the quality of the services being provided and the efficiency in which those services are conducted
