Position Summary: The Operations Manager will manage the Operations of the Thread Roll Department from Request for Quote through Production to be the Aerospace Supplier of Choice by upholding the values of the Superior Thread Rolling Vision Statement. Operations manager is in P/L responsibility of a $3-5M business segment including direct oversight of a team of 20 employees. As leader of the Thread Roll Department will be responsible for giving direction, feedback, and correction to employees to follow policies and procedures to achieve the goals of the company.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years college, 4-year degree preferred
  • Minimum of ten years of management experience, preferably in the aerospace industry
  • Manufacturing or machine shop experience, preferably thread rolling/fastener industry
  • Mechanical Inspection: micrometer, comparator, thread gages
  • AS9100 knowledge and experience preferred
  • Destructive Metallographic Inspection knowledge and experience
  • Computer Proficiency: Microsoft Office, Outlook, and MRP/ERP systems experience
  • Project Management
  • Budget Management
  • Eligible to work with export-controlled products and related data without restriction.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Operations of the Thread Roll Department from Request for Quote through Production.
  • Provide direction, feedback, and correction to employees to follow policies and procedures to achieve company goals.
  • Manage employee relations, morale, and discipline.
  • Oversee employee training and development.
  • Maintain QMS Procedures, Work Instructions and Forms to all current processes.
  • Hold regular Thread Roll Department meetings.
  • Promote, maintain, and develop 6-S and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, train, audit, and improve processes to achieve and maintain efficiency, quality and OTD goals.
  • Initiate internal customer/supplier meetings to improve communication and flow.
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and improvement programs.
  • Promote and support company and management’s decisions.
  • Participate in various meetings and projects.
  • Provide technical support to customers and vendors.
  • Provide technical support within the company.
  • Promote company for new business opportunities.
  • Promote great long-term relationships with customers.
  • Support customer service and sales order entry activities.
  • Support Quote follow up activities.
  • Coordinate customer visits.
  • Support on-time release of production planning.
  • Support estimating and quote generation activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve the die inventory control process.
  • Develop and maintain a process to forecast die requirements.
  • Manage new die purchases.
  • Manage die repair and re-work in-house and outside process.
  • Evaluate and audit all machine maintenance log books.
  • Evaluate equipment, make service recommendations, prioritize, and oversee work is completed.
  • Make comprehensive recommendations on new equipment needs/opportunities.
  • Reduce job delays related to tooling and equipment.
  • Schedule the work centers.
  • Support work centers to achieve the schedule requirements.
  • Manage short and long-term capacity requirements (overtime, staff, shifts, resources).
  • Manage expedite jobs.
  • Develop, audit, and improve department metrics.
  • Achieve Total Turn Time and KPI goals.
  • Increase capacity to support monthly shipments goals.
  • Improve and maintain quality to meet and exceed customer’s requirements.
  • Maintain a full and cross trained staff to support department needs.
  • Troubleshoot shop floor issues and challenges.
  • Audit in-process and completed jobs (parts and paperwork) for process compliance.
  • Disposition NC’s and participate in Root Cause Corrective Action process to identify problems and implement sustainable solutions.
