About The Position

Western Coating's Operations department seeks a knowledgeable and dependable individual to join their team as Operations Manager I. In this role, you will provide leadership and guidance to the overall safety and operation of all warehouse activities, inventory management, and machinery maintenance. The Operations Manager will be responsible for recognition, knowledge, and understanding of various coating specifications, steel grades, and material properties specific to Western Coating's product line. This role involves managing all facility production operations, including raw material receiving, warehousing, and delivery, as well as coordinating logistics for company-owned and third-party haulage. The Operations Manager will collaborate with Sales to achieve efficient production levels, train, develop, and coach production employees, and apply Lean principles through continuous improvement. Additionally, this position requires promoting and facilitating timely communication with internal and external customers and between various departments, and ensuring safe work practices are implemented and observed by all employees and/or non-employees at all times within the production premises.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to effectively manage a team of up to approximately 50 individuals.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks at once in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively develop business plans and strategically schedule workflow.
  • Comfortable communicating and reporting at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently requiring little direction, as well as actively participate in a team environment.
  • Comfortable with and able to implement employee development strategies.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior knowledge of rebar fabrication equipment including shear lines, tabletop benders, vertical automatic benders, radius bending, spiral, Lenton threading, & Barsplice headed bar.
  • Prior knowledge of powder coating equipment including material handling, blast cleaning, induction heating, and powder application.
  • Computer skills using the suite of Microsoft Office tools & aSa production software.
  • Knowledge of crane operation and certifications, & safe operation.
  • Knowledge of employee, facility and environmental safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge of DOT equipment and driver requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with Sales to achieve efficient production levels.
  • Training, Development and Coaching of production employees.
  • Applying Lean principles through continuous improvement.
  • Promoting and facilitating timely communication with internal and external customers and between shop fabrication, field placing, detailing, and project coordination.
  • Ensuring safe work practices are implemented and observed by all employees and/or non-employees at all times while inside the production premises.
