About The Position

The Industry Expert has pivotal leadership responsibility in the overall success of the program. Overall responsibilities include collaboration with VP of Business Units along with other executives in defining and clarifying the future direction of the program, collaborating with VP of Business Units on the assets and supporting systems necessary for program success, strategy and execution of the overall program goals, overall responsibility for the safety and quality control of the day-to-day operations, including overall customer experience, overall responsible to the human capital of the program, in assuring the core values of the Encore Electric, Inc. are known and implemented for their support, responsible for cross department collaboration in achieving overall Encore Electric, Inc. goals, and responsible for supporting Corporate Support Services efforts in supporting the MV program. This position will ensure all employees are always using safe work practices and must be able to assess each employee’s abilities as well as a detailed understanding of each project scope and schedule. This position is responsible for leading and managing all functions associated to field operations within the business unit.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma
  • Ten years of experience in a Construction related field
  • Three years of which should be in a management role
  • MV estimating experience
  • MV commissioning experience
  • Project management experience
  • Three years documented experience in MV terminations
  • Certification in NCSCB
  • Knowledge of the construction process: scheduling manpower, materials, tools and equipment required
  • Knowledge of Constructability and the construction process
  • Knowledge of Cost management, forecasting and Cost to Completes
  • Knowledge of Estimating and estimate reviews
  • Understanding of instrumentation and controls
  • Ability to perform Quality Assurance inspections on work performed
  • Understanding of applications of NERC standards
  • Familiarity of MV Generators
  • Understanding of Theory of Operation of Medium Voltage protective devices
  • Understands Hazards associated with insulating oils and gases
  • Understanding of Reclosure operations and controls
  • Familiar with grounding practices including discharging, hanging, grounded switching
  • Familiar with ground disturbance procedures / permits
  • Ability to analyze Hi Potential Test on medium voltage cable
  • Familiar with very low frequency cable testing
  • Confined Space Trained / Qualified
  • Knowledge of Substations
  • Knowledge of MV Switchgear, sectionalizers, pad mount switches and transformers
  • Knowledge of Underground conduit system installation
  • Knowledge of Vault installation
  • Knowledge of Wire pulling
  • Knowledge of MV Terminations
  • Knowledge of Control Cabling installation for relays and termination
  • Knowledge of MV Commissioning including Hi pot testing, tensioning reports, phase rotation and contact voltage testing

  • Oversee all Medium Voltage Operations from estimating through completion of work
  • Raceway Install and cable pull

  • Termination of MV cabling
  • Installation and termination of MV switchgear, equipment, pad mount switches, sectionalizers, and transformers
  • Safety on the projects and coordinate with safety professionals
  • Understand and perform wire pull calculations
  • Review MV gear submittments and coordinate proper rough-in
  • Recognition of performance, corrective actions, counseling statements and follow up documentation
  • Interview, hire and separate employees in department
  • Oversee onboarding within the department
  • Identify and forecast manpower needs
  • Provide operational oversight of timesheets and expenses
  • Provide general oversight of company vehicles, tools and assets

  • Ensure Energized Work training is performed within Encore guidelines in coordination with the safety department
  • Closely monitor direct and indirect costs, making thoughtful adjustments as necessary to achieve the targeted gross profit of the business plan
  • Develop and document new processes as required to support the business
  • Work with IT on ongoing software projects relating to Business unit needs
  • Participate in business and trade organizations in order to keep current on trends and practices
  • Develop relationships with vendors and clients
  • Support the Project Managers and Account Managers in reviewing estimates serving as the last look when necessary
