About The Position

The Operations Manager will provide leadership and direction to a team of Transportation Coordinators, overseeing day-to-day logistics operations. This role involves managing hiring, training, performance, and career development for the team. The Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring service excellence and compliance with company standards across various transportation services, including truckload, LTL, hotshot, and specialized services. A key aspect of the role is serving as the primary escalation point for high-level customer and carrier issues, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution. The position requires partnering with clients and internal stakeholders to conduct business reviews, develop transportation strategies, and identify opportunities for cost savings and service improvements. Driving operational performance through the effective use of Transportation Management System (TMS) tools, reporting, and analytics is crucial. The role involves monitoring key metrics such as service levels, on-time delivery, and exception management, and implementing corrective action plans as needed. Developing, implementing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are essential for ensuring consistency and operational excellence. The Operations Manager will also oversee billing and financial accuracy for customers and carriers, resolving disputes and driving process improvements. Managing workload distribution, setting priorities, and ensuring deadlines are met are daily responsibilities. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, analytics, sales, and finance, is necessary to support customer initiatives and operational improvements. The role champions a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and customer-first service. Additionally, the Operations Manager will provide after-hours leadership support on a rotating basis and deliver data interpretation, reporting, and analysis to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of proven leadership experience in operations, logistics, or team management required.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States for any company in an ongoing capacity without company sponsorship
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to solve complex problems under pressure.
  • Track record of managing multiple priorities and driving operational efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
