About The Position

JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services. The Operations Manager will be responsible for all operational services, including but not limited to Imports/Exports via Air/Ocean movement, as well as warehousing, and customs brokerage oversight. This role is responsible for supporting branch operational excellence, product initiatives, while driving operational, financial, and compliance objectives.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Freight Forwarding operations experience.
  • 5+ years of prior supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Must have a firm working knowledge/experience handling air/ocean imports and exports.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently.
  • Must have advanced proficiency language (written and speaking).

Nice To Haves

  • CargoWise (C1) experience is a plus.
  • Customs Brokerage experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Technical understanding of operational functions to ensure the branch remains compliant with JAS process and procedures as well as governmental standards.
  • Meet company & customer established KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
  • Management of KPIs by utilizing the operational and financial dashboards.
  • Responsible for managing operations distribution and workloads, to ensure client and contractual needs are met.
  • Awareness of key import and export lanes and operations processes/requirements.
  • Work closely with operations, sales, warehousing, and sales support teams to achieve the target budget.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with customers and Carriers.
  • Manage Branch Workflow initiative adherence using PowerBI dashboard to enhance staff productivity.
  • Conduct performance evaluation for direct reports.
  • Promote, enable, facilitate, and oversee the training of branch personnel, as well as confirming staff is current on training.
  • Identify and relay personnel issues to Branch Manager.
  • Ongoing coaching and mentoring of staff to develop skills to the highest level.
