About The Position

This role is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all drivers and helpers. The Operations Manager will establish and maintain positive relationships with all front-line employees and spend the majority of the day in the field with them. This position involves ensuring new frontline employees have the necessary tools, instruction, and feedback for successful daily duties, and meeting with them daily to ensure consistent communication and support during onboarding. The role requires regular review of best practices to enhance daily performance, focusing on understanding and progress of frontline employee career goals, and identifying and addressing improvement opportunities. The Operations Manager will actively practice and seek feedback on coaching conversations, lead by example to ensure safety practices are paramount, and teach and develop an understanding of the WM Way. Additionally, the role includes conducting Root Cause Investigations for all injuries and incidents, ensuring consistent discipline and retraining, and documenting and maintaining records required by regulatory agencies. The Operations Manager will also review and audit documentation related to route operations daily and visit customers and customer sites to evaluate and resolve safety issues.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree (accredited) or in lieu of a degree, High School Diploma (accredited) and two (2) years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
  • Driver's License
  • Valid Driver's License Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Conducting Root Cause Investigations for all injuries and incidents, ensuring consistent discipline and retraining.
  • Documenting and maintaining records required by regulatory agencies such as the Department of Transportation.
  • Reviewing and auditing documentation related to route operations daily (e.g., DVIRs, driver time and attendance, open tickets), following up where appropriate.
  • Visiting customers and customer sites to evaluate and resolve safety issues, seeking service alternatives where appropriate.
