About The Position

The Operations Manager leads a specialized team in planning, organizing, and managing operations, ensuring chemical loading, warehouse activities, and related processes are performed in a safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient manner. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, physical activity, problem solving, and working at a company that promotes a strong safety culture. Requirements

  • Knowledge of loading chemicals.
  • Hands on, hard-working, self-starter.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Mechanical maintenance background.
  • Experience within safety compliance and profit/loss.
  • Ability to hire right, train right, and treat right all team members.
  • Leadership skills to ensure team members always follow procedures even when no one is watching.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work with and perform basic computer operations (spreadsheet, word processor, and email operations), and general office organization.
  • Good written and oral skills with an ability to communicate with co-workers, customers, and others.
  • Ability to lead employees, support conflict resolution, and implement safety initiatives.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Desire and willingness to learn.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is a MUST!
  • 3-5+ years' experience in transloading, warehouse, logistics, rail, trucking, refinery or terminal operations is a MUST!
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various climates.
  • Ability to work M-F 7am-5pm, including some weekends and nights to support our 24/7 operations.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements for the position.
  • Ability to meet requirements of pre-employment screening including but not limited to background and criminal history check, drug & alcohol testing, MVR, physical/FCE, etc.

  • Transload experience
  • College degree preferred (AA or BA in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, Business, or related field.
  • 3+ years management preferred.
  • 5+ years of chemical loading experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in budget preparation, management of profit and loss, and daily communication with customers and railroads on scheduling and other issues to ensure smooth and safe operation.
  • Provide "Worry-free Consistency" service to the customers on every shift every day.
  • Learn, implement, teach, and execute the S7 Operating System and 5S standards.
  • Build strong relationships with customer contacts.
  • Understand the customer contract and rate structure.
  • Delegate and utilize time management well.
  • Develop and execute a business plan (including budgeting, projecting, variance analysis, and cost management).
  • Promote a safety culture where each Team Member has the value and attitude that unsafe behaviors and conditions will not happen on their shift.
  • Teach and promote personal responsibility for identifying and performing safe behaviors, conditions, and environmental responsibility.
  • Be a proactive leader in problem solving, making decisions, organizing, and directing people, and utilizing coaching techniques for improving behaviors.
  • Drive innovative solutions to keep Team Member turnover low.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors.
  • Work with administrative systems to support operation to meet deadlines.
  • Set an example of professionalism and customer service.
  • Provide hands-on leadership with operational and technical skills to ensure that "best practices" are being utilized.
  • Create an environment where people are committed to professionalism and cleanliness.
  • Create an environment for team building with emphasis on individual development and growth.
