About The Position

Ferguson, a Fortune 500 company and a leading supplier of quality supplies for various industries, is seeking an Operations Manager to join their Industrial team. This role will lead the Devens, Massachusetts industrial business operations, ensuring the company maintains its reputation for extraordinary service and operational integrity. The Operations Manager will support business and sales objectives through effective and efficient management, provide on-site support to the Key Leadership Team, and oversee day-to-day business processes and functions.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years industrial related industry experience
  • Ability to apply knowledge and skills with understanding of external environment factors.
  • Experience providing expert advice, coaching and counseling within field/function area.
  • Exceptional ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective presentations to groups at multiple levels of the organization (associates, branch leaders, GMs, etc).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively use Ferguson's inventory and logistics system (Trilogie).
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership skills to effectively respond to urgent situations.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain company policies for the Industrial business unit.
  • Implement operational efficiency improvements, including standardization of systems, quality control, safety, site selection, facility design, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage the internal audit process to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Identify and implement process improvements based on experience and findings.
  • Develop and recommend specific courses of action based on data analysis for data-driven decisions.
  • Maintain the safety and security of the Branch in accordance with OSHA standards and organizational policies.
  • Support the development of branch leadership through coaching and mentoring.
  • Lead associates, implement processes, and policies to profitably maintain and grow market share, sustain customer loyalty, and provide growth opportunities.
  • Identify new opportunities for cost savings.
  • Facilitate and develop standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and represent associate concerns, policies, and guidelines.
  • Conduct regular associate and branch leadership meetings to promote change leadership and continuous improvement.
  • Represent the organization to customers, associates, and leadership.
  • Collaborate with the shared purchasing center to manage purchasing and inventory control activities.
  • Grow market operations through facility additions, changes, and HR moves.
  • Manage facility maintenance needs or changes for business and market needs.
  • Conduct Business Process Reviews to manage locations according to company goals, processes, and inventory requirements.
  • Advise and support business unit, district, industrial division, and company initiatives.
  • Coordinate fire and tornado drills, maintain the Emergency Action Plan, oversee facility safety, ensure safety supplies are stocked, and complete monthly safety inspections.
  • Manage all ISO activities, including Intelex reporting, facilitating monthly MMR meetings, monitoring warehouse compliance, and supporting audits.
  • Process branch credits promptly and coordinate with sales, warehouse, and operations for returned materials.
  • Provide backup support for daily invoicing, reviewing invoices for accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate administrative records and ensure proper file retention.
  • Order warehouse, office, and packaging supplies and utilize Oracle for purchasing and inventory.
  • Ensure completion of daily Powered Industrial Truck inspections.
  • Upload and maintain Material Test Reports (MTRs) in Square 9 and/or Metal Trace.
  • Support daily coordination between branches for timely response and uninterrupted service.
  • Assist with IT support by troubleshooting equipment issues and coordinating hardware replacement or return.
  • Provide on-site operational support, including warehouse tasks, shipping needs, and occasional local deliveries.
