About The Position

Has delegated responsibility for planning, directing, coordinating, and managing all production and maintenance units through subordinate managers, along with the maintenance of quality, yield and productivity standards, all within budgetary limits. Also maintains a safe work environment and good industrial and human relations within the plant.

Requirements

  • Minimum of seven (7) years in metals related management at a level of at least a department superintendent or department manager.
  • Steel work experience is a must.
  • Requires having multi-departmental management responsibilities.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, and/or public groups.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as WordPerfect, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, established programs, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Providing and managing the necessary production and supervisory personnel within the plant for the varying production loads.
  • Assisting in development of new quality and production methods and assisting in producing requests for capital expenditures.
  • Coordinating the implementation of new and improved methods, designs, and procedures to improve quality, production and costs in all production and maintenance departments.
  • Maintaining production machinery and associated equipment in functional repair and/or program its replacement.
  • Preparing operating budgets for the production & maintenance departments under his control for submission to the Plant Manager for approval.
  • Operating within the approved budgetary limits.
  • Communicating Company Policy and ensuring compliance, including Plant Rules.
  • Developing and carrying out necessary training for all employees under his supervision.
  • Communicating the safety program to promote safe working habits.
  • Furnishing the Plant Manager information on all pertinent developments and assignments.
  • Maintaining harmonious relations and effective communications among the production and maintenance, supervisory and office personnel supervised; and, between all administrative and staff units.
  • Promoting positive customer and supplier relationships through meetings or other communications as required; solving related problems and assuring satisfaction.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
  • Understanding that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers.
  • Carrying out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.
