About The Position

The Operations Manager plays a critical role in supporting Augusta Health’s mission and advancing departmental goals through measurable performance indicators and service excellence. This position contributes to a collaborative, patient-centered environment and helps drive outcomes aligned with organizational priorities. The Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day operational oversight and maintaining a safe, sanitary, efficient operation in accordance with federal, state, local health regulations, and all standards set forth by accreditation agencies. This position is responsible for supervision of staff in the following areas: Retail, Patient Services, Catering, and Production. These duties include review and oversight of patient care programs, purchasing, food production, safety, sanitation, in-service education and review of scheduling. The Operations Manager works in conjunction with the Director of Nutrition Services in the daily management, planning, and growth of the department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare nutrition services management.
  • Driver’s License
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and meet Virginia state employment requirements

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years of college
  • Prior experience in a hospital, healthcare system, or related service-oriented environment
  • Familiarity with Augusta Health’s systems, workflows, or organizational culture is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Take the initiative to see that the facility is neat and well maintained.
  • Consistently directs work performances of supervisors and staff to attain effective utilization of the labor force and ensure adherence to established standards of operation.
  • Always utilizes food production procedures and planning systems to ensure maximum value is received from the food resources.
  • Collects and records quality control data based on the department plan. Assists Dietitians with Quality Assurance data collection as requested.
  • Communicates effectively with the Nutrition services staff and all departments within the organization.
  • Develops the skill of supervisors to enhance teamwork and improve skill levels within the department.
  • Maintains and uses accurate cost records to evaluate past, present and future plans.
  • Make recommendations and suggestions to the Director for any special projects that benefit the department and the institution.
  • Plans and produces special events and activities to break the monotony in the cafeteria and patient line.
