About The Position

The Laboratory Operations Manager is responsible for assisting the Lab Director in day-to-day operations of all Lab personnel and testing functions. They will liaison between Laboratory Service Line and other departments within the system. The Laboratory Operations Manager is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, administrating, directing, coordinating and controlling the activities of the Lab. They ensure accurate, reliable testing in the lab which includes adequate staffing of the sections with competent, well-trained personnel and ensuring that equipment and instrumentation in all sections are maintained and functioning properly. The Laboratory Operations Manager must have a comprehensive understanding of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and all related programs that integrate with current Laboratory Information Systems (LIS). Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology or related scientific discipline required.
  • Registered as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT).
  • Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
  • Four (4) years’ clinical laboratory experience in medical technology under a qualified medical director.
  • Proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word.
  • Keen mental faculties/assessment and decision-making abilities.
  • Superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations.
  • Ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
  • Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
