About The Position

Cargill's Operations Management Internship – Grain Handling program is designed to prepare interns for the plant Operations Management Associate role. These 12-week internships offer hands-on experience, learning, and shadowing opportunities across plant teams and departments. Interns are integrated into the team from day one, gaining skills, knowledge, and attitudes essential for various roles within the company's diverse career trajectories. The program emphasizes collaboration with colleagues and clients from diverse backgrounds and encourages growth, support, critical thinking, and productivity. Cargill aims to help interns pursue their big plans with their extensive learning resources, respected leaders, and development courses, empowering them to solve global issues and contribute to nourishing the world.

Requirements

  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.
  • Currently pursuing Bachelors or Master’s degree from an accredited program in any subject area, and graduating between December 2027 and May 2029.
  • Able to work collaboratively with varying individuals.
  • Willing and able to relocate for the internship.
  • Ability to contribute, both as part of a team and individually.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts and weekends.
  • Willingness to work in a variety of environments (office, outdoors, at heights, etc).
  • Proven ability to work optimally with individuals from a diverse set of backgrounds and cultures.
  • Candidates must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate for an internship opportunity anywhere in the U.S.
  • Must possess a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness in completing work with limited guidance.

  • Pursuing an agriculture or business-related degree (including but not limited to Animal Science, Ag-Economics, Ag-Business, Ag-Education, Agronomy, Food Science, Feed Science, Meat Science, Grain Science, Operations Management, Ag-Systems Management, Ag-Engineering, Supply Chain, Mechanized Systems Management).

Responsibilities

  • Understand leadership in safety and regulatory compliance consistent with Guiding Principles.
  • Understand the importance of Food and Feed Safety.
  • Understand what it takes to lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of operations employees to ensure goals and standards of the organization are being met.
  • Gain knowledge of Human Resources policies and strategies to maintain and increase employee engagement.
  • Understand production maintenance to ensure plants are capable of serving and meeting customer requirements.
  • Understand plant operations in alignment with all functions to achieve business and profitability objectives.
  • Collaborate with teams in capital project initiatives to ensure ongoing market competitiveness of plant assets.
  • Collaborate with teams in production process improvements through tools/activities.
