About The Position
WECTEC Staffing Services, a subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, is seeking Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technicians for a direct hire opportunity in Batavia, NY. This role supports the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of a 62 MW natural gas-fired combined-cycle cogeneration facility. The technician will be responsible for plant operations, equipment monitoring, preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting outages. The position reports to the Plant Manager and works closely with the Control Room Operator.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver's license.
- Experience in power generation, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, military technical operations, or a related technical environment.
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret operating procedures, technical documents, and drawings.
Responsibilities
- Support the safe and reliable operation of the power plant in coordination with the Control Room Operator.
- Monitor and operate gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, boilers, generators, pumps, valves, compressors, and balance-of-plant equipment.
- Help with equipment startups, shutdowns, inspections, testing, and routine operations.
- Conduct preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, minor repairs, calibrations, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Monitor plant performance and identify abnormal equipment conditions.
- Maintain accurate operating logs, inspection records, and maintenance documentation.
- Perform water sampling and chemical testing according to plant procedures.
- Safely handle chemicals and support spill response activities.
- Implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and safely isolate equipment for maintenance.
- Operate electrical breakers and switches following plant operating procedures.
- Support planned and unplanned outages and coordinate activities with contractors and vendors.
- Use CMMS systems to manage work orders, maintenance records, inventory transactions, and spare parts usage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Support continuous improvement and follow all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
